have the latest developments. >> on to our top story this morning. between 5 and 15 people are dead and more than one and did 64 injured after a fertilizer plant explosion near waco, texas. here is video from the scene. the images of this are stunning. firefighters were battling a fire at the plant when one of the fertilizer tanks exploded. the mayor says it sounded like a bomb went off. estimates some 80 homes are destroyed. ed payne shows us now the video of that explosion in the latest on recovery. >> the explosion at the west texas fertilizer plant, fire and thick smoke shooting into the sky. more than 100 people were injured. witnesses said the blast was so powerful they could feel it miles away.

>> it was on fire it was a real heavy blaze. all of a sudden it exploded and it blew everything with them 50 ft. may be farther back. >> the fourth of the blast leveled homes and buildings blocks away from the plant. it is located about 18 mi. more of waco. >> some of the things i have been told and scene are unbearable. it is a complete denied prayer. officials were forced to evacuate the town of 2600 people because of a another concern of another tank at the plant may explode. >> the mayor was a volunteer firefighter has never seen an explosion like this. >> the ball of fire with up it lked like a nuclear bomb. a big mushroom cloud. >> a geological survey recorded 2.1 magnitude from

minutes the bomb squad has arrived. actually their main command center that was here when i arrived. they just unloaded the robot they have that goes out and take pictures of what ever the suspicious package is. they try to engage what they are dealing with. they just unloaded that piece of equipment. they will send it out there. >> i am here on market street if you are familiar with san francisco. lotus fountain is just down here just past the kiosk. it is around that area. no one can get in there. all they told me was a suspicious package was found there. it was reported around 247. of course, with the things that happen in boston some of the letters that have been sent

out to washington. everybody is very nervous. they want to make sure what ever looks strange people are reported. apparently something looks strange that was reported and right away san francisco police went into action and close off the area. >> i can imagine with the number of dignitaries expected this morning with mayor ed lee and the like you imagines a police department is on high alert. >> did you happen to say we're on the other side of the fountain the streets were blocked off? >> it looks like it is one block from the fountain. i was coming up third street it is one of those weird intersections where you have three streets meeting at one point. i was going through that area directly on thursday when i came on third it was blocked off on a mission and third. coming down market again a block away from the fountain. it

a minute ago i saw a german shepherd presumably a bomb sniffing dog going down there. they have dispatched the robots. the robots moving down about 10 minutes ago to the area. it is literally around where the commemoration would be. we're told it does not have anything to do with the commemoration this is purely coincidental. >> we know that the mayor comes here to take part in that festivity. that is why they normally do sweeps. because of what they found at around 245 in the morning that is why they sent their police officers, at least the bombs what, several suvs here. >> see this woman with a white hair she comes here every year for the commemoration as well. she is try to talk to them to see if it will continue this morning at around 505 in the morning. we do not know if it will take place. obviously, this is priority number one to make sure this

an unarmed man suspected of stabbing his brother-in-law last night. kron fours mike pelton is live in san francisco hall of justice with an update. >> please continue to investigate this incident. they said the officer fired of the suspect because he came with a raised hammer. >> officers responded to 911 calls and the 900 block after police say a man called to say he stabbed his brother-in-law. you could hear the other person yelling for help in the background. officers arrived and found a victim with stab wounds to his head, arms, and chess. authorities try to help him. they said another man came at them with a raised hammer here is the police chief with what happened next. >> he had a hammer in his on the side where he felt were the officers shot. >> he came at the officers with the hammer raised. he did not comply with commands. the officers
